tranquiliT inspiration

why tranquiliT? who needs luxe yoga clothing? why do you feel the need to feel fashionable while on the mat?

tranquiliT developed in the same way tranquil space began 5.5 years ago. there was not much yoga to be found in dc and i craved a like-minded community. so i set out to create someplace special for others to be inspired where tea and cookies would complete their experience.

tranquiliT grew out of my need to feel less frumpy while living in yoga wear 6-7 days a week. i recall feeling uncomfortable when i began teaching yoga full-time and was subbing downtown. surrounded by the work crowd in business suits, my tight black leggings and t-shirt felt like they shouldn't be allowed to leave the gym or studio. but who has time to change clothes simply to walk to the next class to teach across town? i began adding a skirt over my yoga pants so i didn't feel so exposed but that didn't quite solve my discomfort. i've always found that when i present my best self outwardly, i feel better inwardly. this relates to my practice too. when i am in comfortable clothing that i can easily wear on and off the mat, i can transition easily from meetings to the cafe to yoga practice. thus, tranquiliT was born.

are you seeking something more in your life? do you think that you may have ideas that can solve a problem for yourself and others? maybe a motivational book club for like-minded divas? how about a functional AND fashionable bag that actually fits everything you need to carry? or a book that shares your life journey and will inspire others? now is the time to create. your challenges or needs are probably faced by others too. your risk taking and attention to your own needs may help lead others to a tranquil space.

tranquiliT manifesto

as i prepare to head out to seattle to showcase the tranquiliT line with buyers in the northwest, i wanted to share this beautiful image that my graphic designer put together for my clothing line manifesto. this manifesto means so much to me as it is a dynamic reflection of how yoga can seep into our lifestyle. yoga is not simply downward facing dog, but it the awareness to carry the creativity and mindfulness of the practice into our everyday life.

"live fully" is my first statement of the manifesto. i believe yoga encourages us to dive deeper into life, just as we do with our poses, and without tasting the nectar of life again and again, we become stagnant. my hope is that this manifesto, along with the clothing line and the yoga studio, will inspire others to live life fully. it is through creating, sharing your voice, and doing one thing each day that scares you, that you grow beyond your wildest belief. namaste.

savvy soiree-throwing

in less than 26 hours i hosted 2 amazing groups of 13+ at my home in celebration of their success for completing programs that began in january - teacher training and a creativity cirle. the ability to pull off a fun soiree on a budget is worth blogging about and sharing secrets with others! the main thing to remember is that the ability to make something special is ALWAYS in the details.

for example, think festive confetti thrown into handwritten congratulation note cards, colorful gift bags or buckets filled with treats that nurture the senses, scented candles and bath gifts to encourage self-nurturing, ribbons wrapped around stemware, impatiens planted in barren winter pots that now bloom with life, candles everywhere, flowers to feed the soul, festive music playing, low lighting (helps hide lack of time to clean), decorative cocktail napkins, and an abundance of comforting snack food to make the visitors feel at home. always send guests home with something to remember your special time together - a small token means a lot.

when teaching yoga, i think theatre. sound, smell, touch, and sight are all so powerful to a class. think theatre when inviting your special savvy ones into your home. the ability to host friends is easy to pull off and no reason is necessary other than the desire to connect. do you find that it has been way too long since you had a girl's night in with some of your fave gal pals? well, wait no longer! send an encouraging evite requesting their presence at a gathering in honor of blooming into spring. request that they come with a spring intention and bottle of sparkling h2o or wine to share! what better way to reconnect after hibernating through the winter?

tranquiliT debut in nyc

in the lobby of a hotel in nyc touching base with reality via e-mail (and just HAD to post). i'm here showing the tranquiliT line at the omega conference that is hosting some amazingly inspring speakers and authors (along with many singing bowl vendors). ommmmmmmmmmmmmm.

wanted to share a peek into my first tradeshow presenting the line to the public (outside of the fabulous online and studio tranquiliT boutique). this is a culmination of over a year's worth of designing, 4 months of searching for the right manufacturer in nyc (still in process), choosing the perfect fabrics and colors, creating the manifesto, sharing the inspiration behind the line (tired of running around town in leggings & tranquiliT Ts), and staying true to the roots of tranquil space's charity community value.

enjoy the photos and look for an upcoming post on the various steps involved in getting to this point. i hope to encourage others to follow their dreams and tap into their own creativity.
